Foundation Approved vs Archive Seal

Two different instruments share the Archive name-space. Mixing them up creates procurement risk. This page states the split plainly. It does not claim Foundation incorporation, published Approved criteria, or live Seal crypto on this Foundation site.

Draft posture. Foundation Approved criteria are not yet a public machine-checkable product on this site (self-serve validators remain paused pending licence / stewardship clarity). Archive Seal purchase and admin authenticity checks live on the commercial Archive — not as a Foundation open standard.

Comparison

Foundation Approved

Open-specification conformance (when criteria are published)

  • Stewarded as a Foundation / open-spec concept — vendor-neutral intent.
  • Assesses whether a bundle meets published open criteria against TLA-185 / orbit shapes.
  • Does not sell Library fill, Hub seats, or Studio+™.
  • Does not issue Archive Seal marks or period-bound crypto manifests.
  • Status today: criteria and self-serve checker are not a live public product — see Governance.

Archive Seal

Commercial attestation — The Landscape Archive Pty Ltd

  • Paid, renewable, organisation- or practitioner-scoped attestation.
  • Attests integrity / issuer / process provenance for sealed packs — not botanical truth of every taxon.
  • Authenticity checks are performed by Landscape Archive administrators (and commercial Archive APIs where published).
  • This Foundation site does not run a public DIY Seal verifier.
  • Purchase and authorised directory live on the commercial Archive site.

Also distinct

  • Archive Certified — paid practitioner / training credential from the commercial Archive. Not Foundation Approved.
  • TLA-EVID — Draft open evidence shape (orbit). Packaging claims ≠ Seal issue.
  • Vault — IP holder. Does not bill customers. Does not grant Seal or Foundation Approved.
